Starring Patrick Ledwell and Mark Haines, The Island Summer Review will take audiences on a breezy, blue-skied tour through a PEI landscape, in comedy and song. Ledwell and Haines have performed together for two summers as cast members of the hit Charlottetown Festival show, Come-All-Ye. The two are looking forward to creating a brand new show that mixes homegrown original comedy, and songs that move feet and heartstrings.
Talking with Melanie and Kris Taylor from Harmony House, we all arrived back at the same idea,” says Ledwell, talking about how the show came about. “We want to invite audiences to Hunter River, and make it one of the most memorable nights of their Island summer.”
The Island Summer Review will run 3 nights a week, Thursday to Saturday, beginning in late June and continuing through late August. Special pricing at 25% off during the first two weeks of shows – June 27th, 28th and 29th and July 4th, 5th and 6th.
I had the gift of performing in Come-All-Ye at The Mack for two years, and I learned a couple things. For one, on the Island, people love coming to summer shows together, as families and friends and sometimes both. And two, if performers can greet an audience already happy to be together, and meet them with a high-spirited show, it’s possible to blow the back doors off the place!”
When I found out that Come-All-Ye wasn’t running in summer 2013, I knew I wanted to write brand new material, and to perform with the same quality performers. So that’s when I called Mark Haines, who can get beautiful music out of an old shoe, and asked him if he wanted to create a review together.”
Mark Haines is just as excited about the new show at Harmony House Theatre.
Patrick and I enjoy engaging audiences in amusing and entertaining conversations. For me, to be performing in a fine place and working with great people will be an honour … and a hoot!”
