Christmas with Ten Strings and a Goat Skin

Ten Strings and a Goat Skin is donating half of their show proceeds to “Santas Angels” run by Ken Zakem with all funds going towards Christmas toys for families in Charlottetown and area!

TEN STRINGS AND A GOAT SKIN is a young award winning bilingual trad/folk/fusion trio that celebrates the music of the Irish, French & Maritime cultures. They just completed a very busy year which took them throughout Atlantic Canada and into the United States. The group is known for integrating modern & world rhythms with traditional & original tunes to create a fiery, contagious energy & unique sound that is increasingly catching the attention of Canadian & international stages.

With a musicality beyond their years, they ensnare audience right from the first note while they create an atmosphere that is pure fun. “These three young guys are extraordinary musicians & they are unlike any Trad/Acadian band you’ve ever heard. You’ve got to see them to believe them”, says Mike Campbell of The Carleton & Halifax Urban Folk Festival.

Making waves on English & Francophone stages during ECMA Week, 2011,12 & 13, their 2012 début bilingual album, TRI, was both awarded MUSIC PEI’s 2012 Roots Traditional Recording of the Year & nominated for the 2012 ECMA Roots Traditional Group Recording of the Year.

Traveling ever further afield & touted as “the busiest & hardest working band on PEI..”, the group was nominated for Music PEI’s 2013 SpinCount Touring Artists of the Year with a festival resume that  now includes Stanfest, Lunenburg Folk Harbour, The Halifax Urban Folk Festival, The Canadian Irish Festival, The Confederation Centre, The Festival of Small Halls & numerous local French & English festivals& cultural events. As well as performances the group has been selected to showcase in New England and with Contact East in Newfoundland and Labrador in September of this year.

Ten Strings and a Goat Skin has as well just recently launched a new Album which has been making waves in the folk world.  Noted as a top 5 sales album at the prestigious Lunenburg Folk Harbour festival  in August it has also garnered serious praise as a top album of that month in Penguin Egg magazine (Canada’s top folk Magazine) as well  as has received great praise in Folk UK magazine , Trad Mag in France among others. Produced by multiple award winner, Lennie Gallant, their highly anticipated bilingual studio album, CORBEAU, was released June 1 2013. “They have a depth of understanding about trad/folk music that belies their ages & when combined with the energy they put into it, you cannot help but jump on board! You will love this album & their live performance”, says producer Lennie Gallant.

Brothers Rowen & Caleb Gallant & Jesse Périard, hailing from PEI’s North Shore, are having the time of their lives immersed in the music they love & performing together as Ten Strings and a Goat Skin. This is a show not to be missed!
