Martin Sobey Fundraiser

Island singer/songwriter, Kris Taylor is set to give two rare performances at Harmony House Theatre on Thursday, November 10th and Saturday, November 12th. The first date is a fundraiser for Island Triathlete, Martin Sobey and the second is general performance.

Taylor is looking forward to playing songs from his previous 3 albums and showcasing some of his new material. “Although my days in the industry are pretty much over, songwriting is something that I can’t stop doing. I’m always sitting at the piano at home; trying to create and develop as a complete artist, and it’s nice to be able to share that with people once in a while,” says Taylor. “I have been asked quite a few times over the past few years when I would return to the stage. I decided back in the Spring that the Fall was a good time, and here we are!”

While planning the show, Kris was asked to help out with ideas for a fundraiser campaign for Island Triathlete, Martin Sobey who he coached together with Kara Grant and Jamie Whynacht at the Canada Games in 2013. Taylor offered the show on November 10th to help the effort. That night will also include a silent and live auction, as well as other fundraising opportunities for Martin who now races on the international triathlon circuit. “Martin is a very gifted and motivated athlete,” explains Taylor. “He has that special something and definitely has Olympic potential. We hope the athletic community will come out and support Martin financially in his pursuit to represent Canada at the next Olympics.”

Sobey spent 2016 training in Arizona and Victoria with the Canadian High Performance triathlon group. He also spent some time racing in Europe and finished the season at the Elite Canadian Nationals in Ottawa where he finished fourth overall in the Under 23 division.

Both shows will start at 8pm with doors opening at 6 pm for reservations in the licensed downstairs restaurant. Tickets can be purchased online through the venue website or by calling (902) 964-2255.
