The Navigators are one of Newfoundland’s most energetic and entertaining Celtic groups made up of several of the island’s well-known musicians. Since forming in November 2000, they have become one of the hardest working bands in the province and perform regularly throughout Atlantic Canada. Members of the band include: Fred Jorgensen (Tin Whistles, Bodhran and Vocals), Arthur O’Brien (Electric/Acoustic Guitars and Vocals), Ian Chipman (Bass and Vocals) and Paul Murphy¬†(Drums). With original songs, accapella, instrumental numbers, ballads and shanties, the band has created their own sound that is suitable for a variety of shows from rock concerts to soft-seat auditoriums, from folk festivals to conferences or from pubs to parties. The band is always guaranteed to both give and have a good time.

Their popular debut CD, Dance and Sing, helped the band win the 2002 MIANL Award for Roots/Traditional Group of the Year. In 2002/2003, The Navigators made several television and radio appearances including ASN’s Breakfast Television, CTV’s Canada AM and CBC’s Pay If Forward II, Benefit for Badger. Over the first two and a half years, the band played hundreds of concerts and shows including: The George Street Festival, AHL Classic All-Star Game, Molson’s Snow Jam 2003, 2003 Nokia Briar and The Nova Scotia Kitchen Party.

The Navigators have since released two more award-winning albums, “Sea Miner” in 2009 and “Soldiers and Sailors” in 2011.

Don’t miss this fun night of Newfoundland music!
